Prior to the Pustules, Nergle was a beast hunter, taking care of dangerous creatures that threatened lairs. He would travel often as the work was also how he fed himself, eating the entirety of his catches since he never wanted to waste anything. This however put himself at odds with dragons who thought this behavior was a bit odd, especially when it came to the more spectral or ghastly creatures.

He met Chimera in a traveler’s rest stop where he inquired about work. After seeing him action, Chimera thought he could be useful as a permanent resident which Nergle found very comforting seeing as he didn’t quite fit in anywhere. Nowadays he eats the ground flesh of the lair as the scar tissue constantly builds up and needs persistent “trimming.” He’s also in charge of sacrificing items and food to a nearby lake in order to feed nutrients back into the lair as an offering to the Plaguebringer.
