Proud FOUND D6 ND!
aka alum FIND D6 ND
This weekend was bittersweet! FIND, Inc held their 2012 Fall Dialogue at George Mason titled “Dream for More” November 3-4, 2012.
It was just one and half years ago my ND partner, Jackie and myself introduced the idea to D6 and FIND National that D6 would host this year’s Fall dialogue. It was met with a lot of excitement on the national level but some apprehension on the district level, but nonetheless we moved forward!
The beginnings of 2012 Fall Dialogue would soon develop. As an incoming senior I knew that I would be phasing out and a replacement would need to fill in for me. I had to develop a foundation for D6 and Jackie once I phased out. Bringing on two proxies, Amira and Lucy became vital to the planning process, as to run a dialogue there were three chairs involved and two NDs. As those two climbed a board we attended national meetings, run-throughs and actual FIND events together showing them the way, giving them a taste of what they were about to plan themselves. It was a honor and pleasure to have helped mentor and instill the confidence in them that they could make Dialogue happen! I knew D6 was more than capable of hosting Dialogue! I had my faith in them all!
With tri-chairs in mind all we needed now was a planning board, volunteers, what our content would be, hard work, dedication, sacrifice, networking, and inspiration. All the ingredients that would make for this Fall’s Dialogue. With months of planning, fundraisers, and volunteer trainings finally came Dialogue, Dream For More.
I couldn’t be any prouder of them all, D6, the volunteering moderators from other districts, the planning board, the tri-chairs and FIND national. I really wish I could’ve been there to see the final product in person. Such a bittersweet feeling this weekend! Mad love to D6 and FIND! I’m proud to be FOUND!
