This morning I was mildly startled by my wife when she took a seat on the balcony while I was adjusting the sun umbrella and consequently had my back to the door.

I was also wearing earphones out of consideration for my neighbors … who likely would not appreciate their al fresco breakfasts accompanied by an old episode of the 70’s sitcom “Maude.” (It turned up in my Facebook feed for some reason & I pushed play. Damn you Mark Zuckerberg!) So I didn’t realise she had joined me until I retook my seat … and the following conversation ensued:

Shazz: “How long have you been sitting there?”

Dr. Darling: “Not long. I spoke to you but you ignored me.”

Shazz: “Sorry … didn’t hear you because of the earphones. What did you say?”

I then added very quickly before she could answer, “… that you adore me?”

Without missing a beat she responded YES. ❤️ But then equally quickly added this:

“I also suggested we get up to some ‘naughty actions’ but you missed that opportunity, too.”

Earlier this week I miscalculated how much time I had before we needed to leave the flat in order to make an appointment. This is not an especially unusual occurrence for me, but in this case, I was watching a YouTube video about some changes to a productivity app/web tool that I use almost daily and I wanted to finish it before we left. Even more inconveniently, I was watching on my 15" MacBook Pro ... which is not a device I tend to carry around the apartment with me.

But like I said, I was really interested in the video content and the clock was ticking, so I took the laptop into the bathroom with me while I brushed my teeth. Then I took it into the bedroom so that I could continue watching while getting dressed.

I’m really REALLY glad to hear that...!!!

Me: Honey, last night was incredible. We've still got "it"!

Honey:(rolling her eyes) Presuming either one of us even knows what "it" is.

Me: Okay, so maybe we've never actually had "it". But that just means we've still got the potential to find "it".

Honey: I suppose there is a remote possibility that we could eventually stumble across "it".

Me: I have enough enthusiastic optimism for both of us.
