A sequel to this!
What happened just before this scene was that a few boats worth of demons were allowed to make landfall onto Flower Fruit Mountain (it's also an island) to regroup and take some fruits and leave. BUT! They also went and violently blinded the first monkey guard they saw (which just so happened to be the crown prince).
