For a minute, let’s pretend TPTB wanted SC to hide their private life (I won’t get into the “why” here). Promises were made and legal wrangling averted if SC obliged. SC hated their lack of control, dishonesty, game-playing and the manipulation by their bosses. However, big carrots were dangled: book deals, whisky investors, money, awards and film opps with A-listers. Their dreams would be realized. SC always wanted kids. Cait was ready at 24, but her then-boyfriend cheated and they split. When the stars aligned, the SC love story mirrored the one they played on-screen. They wanted a big family, but they’d have to start soon. They’d also require several nannies, non-disclosure clauses on set, security, bigger homes, money guarantees, confidentiality and cooperation from their bosses. Then there were threats and security concerns. SC were advised to take the deal. Everything they ever wanted for themselves and their family would be theirs. They simply needed to agree to one non-negotiable demand—to keep their true private life away from the media and fans. SC could marry, have kids, gain financial security and create more career opportunities—all with increased security to fly under the radar. Being recognized as a serious actor only ACTING in love with a co-star and like a loving mother was a huge bonus. SC were so believable as a couple on-screen and off-screen, fans were told repeatedly that they were just good friends who acted like siblings off the job. How are SC doing after their deal with the devil? Now after more than seven years together, SC had a secret wedding and a fake wedding; poorly matched SOs disguised as PAs and UBAs; several wee Balfe-Heughans, as well as a “first” baby for Cait at 41 who held on tightly to Sam’s finger in the only released photo. Sam named one of his greatest prides and joys—his whisky—after his co-star. Cait never named her great loves—her husband and her “only” child, but she often mixed up her PA’s name in print interviews and dropped it into media outlets by insinuation. They’ve had career-advancing roles with A-listers, a best-selling book, a successful whisky business, a travel show promised for a second season, new homes, awards and maybe top honors on the way, Audis whenever and wherever, financial independence and much more. Their children remain safe, hidden behind a thick curtain of secrecy. Their private life is truly private. SC evade the truth, tell a few lies, avoid prying fans or put their watch dogs on the granny shippers, and smile all the way to the bank. From their perspective, I imagine they believe things are going extremely well—it was all worth it. SC think they owe the media and fans zilch. They give so much of themselves already.

I love Sam & Cait. They’re fun to see both on-screen in OL or other projects and off-screen in interviews, SM posts, PR efforts, conventions, as well as BTS in stolen reflections and fan pics. I don’t have much interest in Harry & Meghan TBH, but I think about the intense pressure celebrity couples must feel. So many crumble. SC seem to aim for balance and I’m sure that helps combat the pressure. They back each up and cheer each other on. They also work hard on all of their various projects, and many I believe are co-ventures. It’s obvious to me that they’re a team, a unified front facing the challenges, pressures and craziness of fame head on. But I think the sexiness of OL created an atmosphere where SC couldn’t find balance as a RL couple in public when they gave so much of themselves on screen. We may have forgotten after six years, but their love scenes revolutionized the industry. The first season is now studied in college film classes! The female gaze is the new standard (Bridgerton anyone?) OL put Starz on the Obsessible path. SC are beautiful together—they ARE the sexiest couple, as Sam said. I’m sure they pinch themselves when they reflect on the perfection of their celestial alignment! Sam struggled, faced failure and almost gave up. Cait left one demanding, ego-shrinking profession after ten years to jump into another soul-grinding one and didn’t find immediate success. But they found each other and then everything else fell into place. They made magic. IMO they need balance and privacy to protect it. If TPTB control their lives and talked them into the Narrative for whatever reason, I’m not sure any of us would’ve made a different decision, given the entirety of their situations. We have to put all of it in PERSPECTIVE. It must be hard to ACT as if they’re single or married to a friend/PA when they’re actually with the “Love of their Life” and wouldn’t the WHOLE WORLD love to know it! But they’re actors and they can act off-screen too. Why do we expect anything else? Why do we need confirmation? I truly believe they’re together with a family. I think it’s OBVIOUS for anyone paying attention—they ARE together and they work together. But we shouldn’t wait around for SC to hit us over the head with a joint declaration of their deep love for one another. Why would they? They have it all right now. Why tip the balance? Adding: However, I don’t think they need to find fake GFs for Sam or a fake marriage certificate for Cait. If they could be discreet and quit the gaslighting, we would all be grateful. ❤️💕❤️
