As the Dracthyr Awaken, Primalist Cult Wreaks Havoc
(The following article appears in the Stormwind Evening Standard)
STORMWIND - Ambassadors from the Dragon Aspects recently arrived in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, bearing news and an invitation. The Dragon Isles, the ancestral homeland of the dragonflights, have been rediscovered, and the Dragon Queen Alexstrasza has invited both the Horde and the Alliance to explore the isles. Lord Commander Turalyon has accepted Alexstrasza’s offer, and instructed the Explorers’ League to coordinate with the Reliquary to assemble an expeditionary force.
The rediscovery of the Dragon Isles has led to a long-forgotten race, the dracthyr, making their first appearance on the world stage. The dracthyr served as soldiers under the dragonflights in the distant past, before being placed into stasis for twenty thousand years. They reawakened only recently, and some have offered their service to both the Alliance and the Horde.
These new allies have come at an opportune time, as a cult has unveiled itself and launched assaults across Azeroth. They call themselves the Primalists, and while it is currently unknown what the ultimate goal of these assaults is, it is obvious that the Primalists are in league with forces from the elemental planes. So far, attacks have occurred in Tirisfal Glades, the Badlands, the Northern Barrens, and Un’Goro Crater.
While Azeroth has enjoyed three years of relative peace, this new threat has not found its heroes wanting. Adventurers from both the Horde and Alliance have met the Primalist threat head-on, keeping their incursions from spreading. Elsewhere, small bands have ventured into a newly-discovered wing of Uldaman, one of the vaults built by Azeroth’s titanic watchers, at the behest of our draconic allies.
Unfortunately, the joint expedition to the Dragon Isles has been delayed. Toddy Whiskers of the Explorers’ League had this to say on the matter: “Turbulent elemental storms are churning the seas to dangerous, unnatural levels. Until those clear, we won't be going anywhere.” Given their ties to the elements, it seems likely that the Primalists are behind this too.
