To be clear, I mean absolutely no insult to RJ Palmer, who as I’ve said is a great artist, and his realistic Pokémon are pretty magnificent as creative reinterpretations of Pokémon as animals. Obviously aesthetic judgements are always subjective, besides that you’re allowed to design monsters that are ugly - a lot of monsters are meant to be ugly, and I strongly suspect RJ Palmer is often deliberately leaning into conventional ugliness in his designs (just look at that Espeon, which is so much more unpleasant-looking than an actual sphynx cat that there’s no way it’s not deliberate). But whatever aesthetic appeal RJ Palmer’s realistic designs have most certainly is in no way related to the aesthetic appeal of the actual Pokémon, and I deeply, deeply do not want a Pokémon movie where the Pokémon are systematically redesigned to discard everything that made the canonical versions appealing in favor of something completely different. To me that’s just defeating the whole point of a franchise built around this particular set of creatures that you’re meant to like and bond to, and I think the suggestion that this is something that ought to happen is honestly pretty bonkers. It’s completely reasonable to love axolotl Dragonite as a cool speculative design, but it’s another thing entirely to insist that nightmare axolotl Dragonite is an adequate substitute for actual Dragonite. They are quite simply not the same creature.

If you learned about HGS 5 minutes ago then buddy let me tell you, you’re gonna find out why it’s garnering such a massive amount of hate in a short while. Let me just lay out the basics; boring art style, claiming a 100% white female ratio in the writer’s room and a (I forget just how many females I counted outside the writer’s room in the reveall they uploaded, but it were somewhere around) 15 or so females compared to 2 men, a majority of those females also being white, lying straight to your face about the state of western animation, and more recently thanks to the no cameras, no Q/A panel they held a few days ago, incredibly stale and boring characters (just scroll back a bit in my blog if you want to see what I felt about that)

5. Shit, that’s actually really tough. There’s a couple trees I really like but umm.. a ginkgo or magnolia tree? Is this for the present time cause iirc those trees have been around for a very long time and it would be cool af to be a tree waaay in the past.
