Let’s assume Keith crashes the let’s-sedate-Shiro party in episode one because he already knows there’s something alien about his back story and now that Actual Aliens have crash landed, he wants answers. (Even so, that’s really extra dude. Like, come on.)
But then he sees that it’s Shiro, and he has a much more emotional response. We know Keith was in the training program the year before when the Kerberos mission crew went missing. We know that it takes months for Earth ships to make it to Kerberos, so Shiro would have been gone for a while before he and the Holts got kidnapped by Zarkon.
Lance idolizes Shiro, so Shiro must have had a rep before he left Earth the first time. Does Keith idolize him in the same way?
Keith: *genuine emotion at having Shiro back* Lance: *none* Keith: *stands up after getting knocked out to protect Shiro from the training robot* Lance: *stays down* Keith: *immediately defends Shiro’s choices as leader* Lance: *not so much*
My Writer Senses are tingling, and they’re telling me something is missing in this narrative.
