*breaks down your door* *gently fixes * I need some juicy details about your AU :D if you're willing to share. I absolutely love sci fi and fantasy. Feel free to ignore if you don't want to, but I thought you'd appreciate a chance to ramble/brainstorm the AU
OH MY GOODNESS YES! kicking my feet and grinning so wide right now!!!
So basically this country on planet [undecided] knows that they’re going to have to go to war with the natives at some point, so they fund these two scientists to lead a project to bioengineer a team of supersoldiers. The country is pretty wealthy and favors humans, (gotta love fantasy racism… [for legal reasons this is sarcasm, racism is irrefutably bad]) so they decide that the optimal soldier is a giant human-dragon hybrid.
After a few rounds of failed attempts, they create the dracos! Each draco has a designation (letter + number) and color that their names come from. (A-3 -> Azur3, C-4 -> Cinnab4r, R-8 -> Ru8y and so on)
There are 3 that I have as fleshed-out characters (Ruby, Cinnabar, and Azzy) but there are hundreds of them. They all train together and trust each other intrinsically. They have different specialties, but all of them are fully capable! Each draco knows draconian (a language that’s a mix of common [english because it’s the only language I know] and various clicks and growls) as well as military sign and another of their choosing.
Anything after this point is story that may change lol
Once they finish their training, the war hasn’t started. They have no purpose. So they have to figure out normal lives for themselves.
Then, just when they get settled, it’s time to fight. The war takes longer than they expected, but they finally win.
They resume their normal lives and help repair the countries, some fighting for civil justice and others pursuing their own projects. As time goes on, they start to drift apart. Since they are no longer needed, some move to other planets. Some become mercenaries, traveling the cosmos. Azure is one of the only ones who stays on the original planet, and it brings her great sadness. The dracos are a bonded group, so not having others around is hard on them.
There’s no real happy ending, the lead long lives and try to stay in touch, but eventually drift apart.
