#drabble!!

You didn’t even know if this would work, if they could pick up… But you didn’t know what else to do. Who else would be awake in the dead of night? No one… That’s who. Unless… There was someone who didn’t need to ‘sleep’ exactly.

 The dial tone taunts you as it continues on, you could swear that each tone was going to be the last, and that no one would pick up. You were almost ready to end the call too… To end it and not wait for the small hope you harboured to be squashed.

 Your thumb hovers over the end call button, but a sharp click and “Starlight?” is quick to catch your attention.

 You press the phone to your ear and the tears start falling, finally breaching the dam you had built.

 “Moon… Moon I’m sorry… I know it’s really late, but… I didn’t know who else to call…”

 You hear the click’s of him moving through the speaker, the silence almost making you regret calling. You wouldn’t want to talk to you this late either.

 “Starlight? Are you... Okay?”

 You weren’t, you really weren’t. Your tears threaten to close your throat, barely managing to squeak out an answer, the smallest “no.”

 A confirming hum comes from Moon’s side, “I see… Did we ever tell you about Sun’s lemon incident?”

 You nearly stop crying, a couple hiccups coming through as you messily wipe your face. Rough sniffling sounding as you wetly reply, “Lemon incident…?”

 A raspy giggle sounds from Moon, a couple clicks come across and then a soft fwump sound.

 “So… Sun had been told to clean the daycare and…”

 Moon tells the story of how Sun spilled a whole jug of lemon scented cleaning supplies on the play mats. It was so strongly scented they needed to close the daycare temporarily while a team was brought in to replace some mats and remove the scent. Sun was mortified, and Moon still holds it jokingly above his head. It only makes you giggle more when he mentions how much Sun didn’t want you to know about it.

 You finish your giggle fit and wipe some more tears off your face, “Thanks Moonie… That makes me feel better… but… Can we still talk about it tomorrow?”

 “Of course. Now, sleep Starlight. Even Stars need rest.”

 “Goodnight Moonie.”
