Man I love Galaxy Quest so much, it has got to be my favorite parody movie ever because it’s more than a parody. The best example is “by Grabthar’s hammer, by Suns of Warvan, you shall be Avenged”. When we think of parody, we think of taking something that takes itself seriously, and turning it into a joke, but with “Grabthar’s hammer” it’s the exact opposite. When it is first introduced, it is a corny, cheesy nonsense line that Alexander Dane despises because it’s stupid, humiliating, and wastes his talent. Yet when it comes time to comfort his greatest admirer in his final moments, he turns it into the beautiful line in the whole movie.

I know I normally post stuff about star trek, but I have to share some thoughts about Galaxy Quest, more paticularly, Thermians.
Not sure if it was on purpose or not, but they seemed like they were on autism spectrum. I mean, here are the facts (taken from the Galaxy Quest wiki) :
Not being able to lie or tell if someone is lying is often associated with people on the spectrum and it's often displayed by autistic coded characters. Also the Galaxy Quest series they watched? It's totally their special interest!
They also mean well although it sometimes backfires (like when they offered beetles as food to the actor playing Dr. Lazarus, assuming that's what he eats as his character does).
They also have this device that makes them appear more human...
Which seriously made be think of masking, common among people in autistic community, as a way to fit in.
