alfor probably took the initiate first bc he’s a nice guy and a good diplomat. he started learning from his translator and then blaytz would not be one-upped and gyrgan and trigel sort of got sucked up in the excitement.

trigel almost stops midbattle bc she can’t remember one goddamn word and it’s driving her crazy.

Some Magical Shit Happens and the og paladins somehow lose the ability to speak each other’s tongues and it’s just one really long and frustrating game of charades and zarkon drives his lion straight into a cliff out of sheer frustration.

zarkon, trying to learn all the different names for all the different articles of clothing alteans wear: alfor your people are so soft alfor, struggling through the tenth volume of the galran history of war book: yeah that’s fair

they sometimes borrow phrases from each other and since they’re sort of heads of state the phrases get disseminated down and it’s like a really risky game of telephone that might cause an intergalatic war

blaytz: and then gyrgan took the robot’s head clean off with his hands, and—

zarkon: we have a phrase for that trigel, without hesitation: of course you do

we saw that zarkon got her a birth gift but so did the other paladins. trigel got her a book of myths of her people (bc “we all hope she learns from anyone but you, alfor”). blaytz got her a ceremonial dagger (“zarkon and i coordinated our gifts, as you can see” “please get out of my castle you are no longer welcome on altea” “….are you joking i can never tell when youre joking” ). gyrgan is the only one that got an age appropriate gift (a beautiful blanket woven by his top artists).

her parents do let allura keep the dagger though, and when she’s old enough blaytz teaches her how to use it correctly

for one of her birthdays someone gets her a cape so she could match w/ her dad and honestly she wore it every single day for like two years

tbh the ogs brought gifts for her all the time! like souvenirs from new and exciting planets and Space Rocks

since alfor is the only Dad (i’m assuming) the paladins all sort of silently agree to look out for his reckless ass but also alfor being Who He Is As A Person means that he's the one that’s always there with those near death experiences

after allura’s mom dies alfor is both Incredibly Reckless in his grief and overly cautious because he does not want to leave allura an orphan at such a young age and holy shit does he frustrate everyone around him (and himself)

its rare that one of them got to babysit allura but it did happen. she was a very curious child who asked a lot of questions and also kind of adventurous and definitely a handful even for a paladin of voltron

allura: can i take a ride in your lion gyrgan: no your dad might kill me allura, with puppy dog eyes: pwease gyrgan: …….just a quick jaunt around the system

three hours later they come back and altea is ready 2 go to war to find their princess and gyrgan gets chewed out by alfor (angry alfor is Scary)

zarkon is fucking terrible with children he loses allura for five whole hours and enlists coran to help him find her before alfor comes back

gyrgan most definitely carried her on his shoulders. it was adorable. alfor tried but accidentally hit allura’s head against a low beam. it was a sad day on altea.

there was probably a special term for lesbian in trigel’s language that she’s happy to share with allura

there was definitely a scheduled Girl Time between the two of them after allura lost her mom and trigel most definitely let her (discretely) pilot the green lion at least once

alfor…hid when things got bad between him and zarkon but allura grew up with all the war stories about alfor’s younger days and how the paladins went from just allies to friends

if coran was like a second father to her then the other paladins were all the weird extended family that you spend a weekend with once every five years and the visit ends with you in the hospital

blaytz was That guy that always mussed up her hair as a way of greeting and allura always giggled it was Sweet

Listen allura grew up wanting nothing more than to be a paladin of voltron and the ogs all supported her! they knew she was a good kid who was going to make a great queen and an amazing paladin, given the chance

alfor recruited his friends to help him stress test his inventions. only blaytz and gyrgan ever agreed, though.

Anything and Everything Zarkon Touches Sets on Fire like with spencer from icarly. alfor ends up banning him from his lab after the fifth time something goes up in flames

alteans motherfucking invented fire extinguishers that never run out of Fire Suppressing Juice and it was partly zarkon’s fault

alfor sometimes lets his friends name his inventions bc he owes them since he got to name voltron

the first time coran saw blaytz he was like Holy shit and the first time blaytz saw coran he was like lmao who’s this tiny little man
