I have found out recently that I am a descendent of Doukhobors which has inspired me to listen to their hymns. I had never known much about my Russian side so this is incredibly valuable for me and my spirit.
Doukhobors are known as spirit wrestlers, wrestlers for and with the spirit. They believe that each person has a spark of god within them, this surprised me to learn because I had been operating under that belief for a few years already. It was a concept I had come to on my own and now it feels ever more true to me.
I am still learning and while many of the history has been lost due to lack of written records and religious persecution, it is a very interesting look into the past. I have been feeling incredibly emotional about it.
