I understand totally! I had self-image issues too for a long time just because people made me feel bad about the way I looked. People as a group are mean. They will turn literally any feature about a person and twist it into something to be reviled.
It's very easy to just agree with them and learn to hate yourself. But there's no sense in it. Anyone who would do such a thing to you isn't worth keeping in your life, even as a memory. Any "flaws" that people have are dictated by other people. Attractiveness as a concept is bullshit. It's all subjective. Anyone who has to put down others in order to make themself feel superior is an asshole. So I don't care what that guy's deal was. What he did was no better than anon hate.
The important thing is to let go of the past and appreciate yourself for who you are. Life's too short to spend it worrying about things that don't matter.
