First Day part 2
“Are you almost done?” Vriska asked Kanaya. “Almost, just a couple more things.”
Jades voice is heard just outside the door. “yeah, no I see what you're getting at, but I don't know if we could do a whole ancient Egypt themed night without it coming across as a caricature, besides, what drinks would we ser… oh, Vriska, hey!”
Jade entered the dressing room with Aradia following behind.
Vriska rolled her eyes slightly. “Hey Jade. Quick question, is Kanaya like this with everyone?”
Aradia replied “the best at her craft? She certainly is.” Kanaya letting slip a slight smirk from Aradias praise.
“Alright, that should be everything I need for any potential costumes. Thank you Vriska.”
“So, are you gonna be our new bartender? Jane did say she was looking for someone who could hold their own behind the granite.”
“Assistant manager and bartender, actually. And yes, I know my way around a cocktail shaker.”
Terezi buts in “she means she's been slinging frozen margaritas at a chain restaurant for a couple years.”
Vriska snark back “oh shut it, Pyrope. Alright, would love to stay and gab, but Jane is probably wondering where the hell I am.”
Vriska turns and slips out of the dressing room, leaving the girls to get on with their prep work for the night. The hallway leading to a door with one way glass, the view from that window suggesting that Vriska may have misunderstood just what kind of operation Jane is running.
Vriska stepped through the doorway, and everything is different than she imagined.
Vriska had a specific register of what a strip club looked like in her head. Tacky decor, sticky floors, old vinyl seating, minimal bar service, a stink of desperation and poor decisions.
None of that was here. None of it. Immaculately clean floors, the furniture looked new. Tubes of RGB LEDs running along the walls and ceiling, leading to a proper lighting rig.
Vriskas eyes then land on a pair of stages, two poles polished to mirror finish. Then the sound booth, from which Dave Strider gave a slight wave while looking up from his control deck.
“Vriska, over here!” Vriska spun on her heels 180 degrees to face the bar, and her eyes meeting Janes bespectacled smile.
“Jane Crocker. Hope I didn't keep you waiting. fussy fangs in the backroom insisted on taking my measurements here and now.”
“Yup, that's Kanaya alright. She'll have you in something perfect before you even realize you needed it. Now, let me show you what we're working with back here.”
Vriska rounds the bar, and from the bartenders end of things, it looks immaculate. She then noticed the order in which the bottles were arranged. Spirits toward the center, with liqueurs and mixers flanking them, and more uncommon spirits on the outside ranks. Beer taps, mugs, glassware, refrigerated easy access bins for cold items. A clear level of organization, and all clean as a whistle.
“jegus, Jane. Pretty sure this bar is clean enough you could perform surgery on it.”
"thank you, Vriska. I do try to run a tight ship around here. Everything by the book.”
