#double digits

I did not go to vigil mass yesterday before the church picnic because I thought it was an hour earlier than usual (because of the church picnic). It was two hours earlier. By the time I was ready to leave my house, mass was already half over.

I did not get to mass this morning. I have been sick all week, rallied/took a decent amount of pain meds and mucinex to get through the picnic (I love my family, but I am very much the best person to help kids exchange their tickets for prizes), worked 6 hours outside during a heat advisory, and came home to my bedroom still being 90F. Basically, I crashed. Hard. I slept on my couch, woke up after mass at my parish starts, with a headache and without a voice.

I rallied just long enough to go to the farm and help ID which roosters we were getting rid of. Then I came home, got supplies from Walgreens, and am now lying on my couch absolutely miserable.

I don’t think I’m gonna make it to evening mass. It’s been nearly two hours since I took the cold meds and I’m still miserable. If I want to go, I have to start getting ready in an hour. Even if I do rally, I don’t want to risk getting people sick. It’s bad enough this stupid illness is already doing the rounds at both work and in my family.

Here is the birthday cake I made for E. I ran out of time and couldn’t add the bandana she wanted but man, I’m proud of this one! I wasn’t sure it was going to turn out at all. DH helped a ton and I had to quit and let it sit for a bit this morning. When I came back to it, things went more smoothly.

This was my first attempt at covering a cake drum in fondant and my first time making my own cake drum.
