Keith Haring was a prominent figure of the Pop Art movement, who was active from the late 70s until his death in early 1990 (aged 31). His friendship with fellow graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat saw him develop his own graffiti-art style, with itâs bold outlines of figures and animals, alongside the simple, vibrant block colours saw him rise to fame and led to him undertaking larger projects such as commissioned murals and collaboration with pop art Icons such as Andy Warhol. Haring often used his artwork as a vessel to address issues such as homosexuality, safe sex and AIDS. I was inspired by his seemingly simple, bold colour schemes, as they really drew attention to his pieces.
