London Grammar- Nightcall ( Kavinsky)
No one does trip hop quite like London Grammar. The English trio has been one of my favorite bands for the past few years, as well as one of my favorite live acts. There’s a pristine beauty to their music, elevated to astounding heights by Hannah Reid’s impeccable vocals. Earlier this summer, the band released their sophomore album Truth Is A Beautiful Thing, a stunning follow up to 2013 debut If You Wait. Though my love for If You Wait is hard to top, I’ve found myself listening to Truth Is A Beautiful Thing on repeat these past few weeks, gripped by its array of flawless arias and Hannah’s exceptional singing. London Grammar offers up a taste of Truth Is A Beautiful Thing in Non Believer, one of the more traditional trip hop and electronica leaning tracks off the album. Perhaps its the cinematic sprawling style of their consummate music, or maybe it’s that pure and unblemished voice, but there’s always been a stark honesty, if not a certain kind of integrity, that endows London Grammar’s deep cutting, clarion ringing music. The new album’s title (also the gorgeous final track off the album) never felt more true. Truth Is A Beautiful Thing is available from iTunes, here.
