Happy Doomcember! This entry is Garfield Logan -- again! When Beast Boy grew up sufficiently to want to drop the “Boy” from his name, he adopted "Changeling” as his alter-ego (and kept the same powers).
For my part, this is how I was introduced to the character. I had never read an issue of The Doom Patrol before I started reading The New Teen Titans, so “Changeling” was an all-new character to me, complete from his introduction (although my parents collected comics before I was born, and my mom had been fond of the original Teen Titans book -- so I recall with some fondness reading her copy of the introduction of Titans West, a team which included the then-Beast Boy as a member).
Happy Doomcember! Today’s entry is Garfield Logan, aka Beast Boy, in more or less his original color sort of. When Beast Boy debuted, he sported a green skin color, but to disguise himself as a superhero he donned a purple mask which resembled his face. I don’t get it either.
One of the things which has always made Doom Patrol work is its commitment to its cast of characters, each of whom is equally disagreeable and heroic in turn. Beast Boy, orphaned and angry and hungry for acceptance, would switch from sassy wisecracks to desperate devotion in the space of a single panel, particularly with his adoptive parents Elasti-Girl and Steve “Mento” Dayton ...
