Aaaaah, OMG, this is the best ask! *is the hugest Shakespeare nerd* 

Unfortunately I don’t really have much for you, which is really sad because there is so much potential for queer Shakespeare retellings. Most of these I haven’t read either, so I can’t give you my personal recommendations. I asked the people in the fab YA LGBT Book Goodreads group for help.

Rosemary and Juliet by Judy Maclean

robintalley has a new book coming out in 2016 called As I Descended which is a re-telling of Macbeth. (I AM SO EXCITED.) You can learn more about it here.

And I’m going to rec some adaptations of other classics as well:

Love in the Time of Global Warming by Francesca Lia Block (The Odyssey)

Great by Sara Benincasa (The Great Gatsby)

The Dark Wife by Sarah Diemer (The Myth of Persephone)

And of course Ash by Malinda Lo (Cinderella)

Lastly, I know you’re looking for books, but I’d also like to recommend Nothing Much to Do which is a vlog re-telling of Much Ado About Nothing, much like the Lizzie Bennet Diaries. And while it doesn’t have any queer girls, there are some queer guys, and in their recently confirmed second season Lovely Little Losers (aka Love’s Labour’s Lost), it looks like Costard and Jaqunetta will be re-imagined as queer girls.

SO. I hope this helps! I’m really sorry we didn’t have anything else. If you want to expand on “Shakespeare taste” I might be able to help you there. But seriously, queer Shakespeare re-tellings are now on my wishlist for queer YA— I need this in my life.

This is a hard question to answer, partially because we don't want to give anything away, and partially because there's a lot of sides in fandom as far as shipping goes. 

We wanted to use this series to explore and expand representation in media. This is one of the reasons we made them both women. This is also part of the reason we chose to make Sherlock asexual (and pretty aromantic, as well), and Jane bisexual. So while they are not in a relationship with each other, Jane is very much interested in having one. She has a reputation over three continents, you know.

And like every Watson, she's a romantic.

Good evening my non-Turkish people. Let me tell you about "YAMYAM STYLE" tonight.

I'm pretty sure you all remember the Gangnam Style era. Everybody making remixes and covers and dance covers of it blah blah blah. The song had a huge effect on my beloved country as well.

I need to tell you about this Turkish singer first. Atilla Taş, born in 1975, had recorded some songs in the past, many people know about him. Honestly, I had pretty much no idea that he existed until he decided to make a cover of Gangnam Style in 2012.

Chances are he wrote, recorded and released the song within 24 drunken hours. He called it "Yamyam Style", which translates to "Cannibal Style". Yep. Here is the link with a video that doesn't actually belong to the song.

Many of you don't know a word of Turkish so you probably won't have a lot to say but hear me out: Listening to the song felt like those moments where your parents embarrass you in front of your friends. And it has some of the most ridiculous lyrics I've heard in 17 years.

Around the chorus (does this song have one anyway?) it goes:

"You're so beautiful, you're so special

I'll eat you up, I'll finish you up

Careful, you'll be finished up, don't trust me, I'll eat you up

Not using any cutlery, just with bread

- in CANNIBAL STYLE!"

Believe me, it's not any better in its original language either. And naturally, the Turkish internet users made a lot of comments on it, even getting to the point where they denied the fact that Atilla Taş was Turkish and he made this song. They declared he was of Greek origin, with the name Athillas Thasos and it was actually really fun.

The best part is that Atilla Taş was really cool about this whole thing, him being "pushed to Greece" and all, making jokes and stuff. We even saw he bought a Greek-Turkish dictionary in a video he made on last February 14 (don't get me started on his Valentines Day song). He turned out to be a cool man, yes. Even when we kept mocking and insulting his cover, he joined us and we all had a lot of fun.

Later, I asked my Greek host if she knew about Athillas Thasos but she had no clue and I didn't push it. Oh well. It's still funny.
