Don't Be Afraid— Chapter 12
Herding us into the tour bus someone tied a blindfold over my eyes and I heard whispers from the girls. "What is happening? Shelly? Liam? Louis!" I shout. Flinging my arms out in front of me I only hit air. The bus started moving and took a sharp right and my body was thrown flat into the seat next to me. The blindfold hindered me from determining where we were going and from using my balancing skills. I quickly sit up and somebody took a seat next to me and put their arm around my shoulder. It was definitely one of the boys. I start to move my arms up to the direction their face would be, but their strong arms take hold of mine and restrain them. "Who are you?" I huff. "Let me go!" The only response I got was silence. We drove like that for a while, the silence making the travel time seem longer than it actually was. Suddenly the bus halted and the person next to me guided me out of my seat and down the stairs of the bus. I feel the hot August sun hits me followed by the rush of cool air of the building we enter. The bodies continues to guide me down a maze of hallways and into a room. The strong hands let me go and I could hear them take a few steps back. "Okay, love." Louis directs. "Take off your blindfold." I reach up to take it off but my hand meets another. I gasp and the blindfold is removed. My eyes meet Niall's piercing bright blue eyes. They dance with delight and a smile plays on his lips. "Niall!" I whisper. He wraps me up in a hug and I look behind Niall and see the boys and my friends watching us, giggling and smiling happily. "Did you miss me?" He steps away. "Of course!" Niall's POV She walked forward with the red strip of fabric tied around her eyes, her stagger improving as Liam and Louis lead her to me, her golden hair bunched up in the back from where they unexpectedly caught her and tied the blindfold around her head. Louis finally told her to untie it and I bit my lip in anticipation. It had been a hard week since we had last been together, odd Skyping times after concerts in between her long family reunion nights— special visit from Greece– and being two hours behind made a it bit difficult. I dread going back home. My hands reach up untie the blindfold for her and she gave a little gasp. Her eyes finally met mine and her face developed into the beaming, bright, lighthearted appearance I first fell in love with. Her eyes were my favorite– her blonde hair and smooth complexion didn't have a thing on them. I could stare into the peridot colored orbs forever, a portal into her heart. "Niall!" She whispers. I wrap her up in a hug. "Did you miss me?" I steps away. "Of course! What are you doing in Nashville? I didn't even think of asking the boys." She smiled. My stomach churned. "We planned a little free concert here, tonight." I clear my throat. Essentially, it was Zayn. He could tell I was missing her so much I was losing things, forgetting to do basic routines. I told him I wasn't that attached to her and that I would have to get used to it before going home, but he insisted. She squeaked, grabbing hold of my shoulders and giving me a kiss on the cheek. Even minutes after, I could feel the heat from the kiss traveling through my body. I couldn't understand how that was different from any other kiss we had before. I shrugged it off. "What time's the concert? I have school tomorrow." "7," I groan. "Do you have to go? Couldn't you stay with me and we could spend my day off together?" Liam walked up behind her and put a hand on her shoulder. "She has to go, mate. One of you has to finish school." He snickers. "Hey– you didn't finish school either." I growl. "Oh calm down," Fay rolled her eyes and grabbed my hand, leading me to the couch. "I can meet you after school and then there's the weekend." We plop down on the couch and I pull her into my lap. She resists and finally settles herself next to me, resting her head on my shoulder. "I like it better here." She whispers. I nod my head and her eyes start to droop. "Tired?" "I didn't get much sleep last night. The neighbors were at it again." She yawns. "Go to sleep, I'll wake you up in time." * * * Fay POV It's everything about you, you, you, Everything that you do, do, do, From the way that we touch, baby, To the way that you kiss on me, It's everything about you. I catch Zayn's eye from the front row and he smiles and nods over to Niall, about to start his solo. Niall starts pointing to me and I giggle. Guess I like the way you smile, With you eyes, Other guys see it, But don't realize that it's m-m-my lovin'. There's something about your laugh, That makes me wanna have to, There's nothing funny so we laugh at n-n-nothing. The song continues, Niall staring at me, pouting at me, and the fans go wild, making me turn red. Once the song ended, Harry started talking. "As most of you know, my friend, Louis Tomlinson proposed to Eleanor Calder recently!" He shouts into the mic. "Let's tell him how proud we are of him!" The arena roars with the sound of fans screaming their hearts out. As the sound calms down a bit, a loud booing could be heard from the front row on the left side. Liam steps forward and waves his hands at them to be quiet. "You know better than that, guys! C'mon!" Zayn speaks to them. I look back to center stage and Louis is standing there, eyes wide. He looks at me and quickly stalks off the stage. Security goes mad, kicking the girls out of the concert. "Fay! Fay!" Paul shouts. "Right here, Paul." I wave my hands at him. "I'm going to pick you up and lift you over the fence, okay? We need your help, and waiting for you to climb over with you heels would take too long." "Sure." I nod. He reaches his big arms over and boosts me over the fence quickly and lands me directly on the stage. "Follow Josh, he'll take you back to the dressing room," He points. "Hurry." I dash over to Josh as quickly as I can in my heels. He loops his arm through mine and explains what is going on. I knew full well that Louis wanted me to talk to him, and me only. We round a corner and standing in front of the door is Zayn, pacing track and forth, only stopping to grab my arm from Josh and give me a quick kiss on the forehead. "Good luck." He whispers. I slowly open the door and peer my head in. Sitting on the couch is Louis, his head in his hands. I step inside and edge up to him. "Tell me why, Fay," He said, his voice wobbly. "Why would anybody ever do that?" he lifts his head to reveal red eyes and a crinkled forehead, his brown hair sticking up in all directions. "This isn't the first time you've seen fans do this. There must be somthing— something more going on." I falter. Reaching my hand up and cupping his chin in my hand, he looks into my eyes with need. "Be honest with me." He grabs my hand tightly. "Yes, Louis?" I look at him with concern. "Does. . ." He hesitates. "Go on, say it." I squeeze his hand, prodding him on. "Does Eleanor love me for– what I'm trying to—" "Yes Lou! She does love you for who you are, not for fame or fortune. What did she do when you asked her to marry you?" "She said yes and started crying. I almost couldn't get her to stop." he chuckled at the memory. "See? She does love you. And about those fans," I smile. "Did you hear the rest of them? They were cheering, not booing." Suddenly, the rest of the boys came in. "Are you okay, Lou?" Liam asks. "Don"t worry I would have done the same thing if it had been about Dani." "Yeah, I'm fine. Fay fixed me." He grins.Â
