There was a time when grammar police was a thing in social medias. The reason they are called as such is because these people pointed out some grammar mistakes and later correcting it. Many were triggered by this.
Many were triggered by this. Its because they take it offensively and think that they were being belittled. While some actually think its rude to comment about peoples mistakes. But, in their defense, some people do rudely comment on the mistakes people made, which is true because I've seen some.
However, many have taken this too far. Some actually gets mad to them and called them names. Some, even if they only intended it as a joke, even threatened them. If you are not aware, this can actually affect the psychological state of a human being.
Everyone should take into account that these people might have OCD or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. According to the American Psychiatric Association (2017), it is a "disorder in which people have recurring, unwanted thoughts, ideas or sensations (obsessions) that make them feel driven to do something repetitively (compulsions)". Fun fact: researchers actually call it Grammatical Pedantry Syndrome or GPS. Its not like they want you to get offended. They just want everything to be in order. These so called grammar police actually have good intentions. They just wanted to correct what they see wrong.
Its alright to make mistakes. We are just humans. Nobody is perfect. That's why you should accept your mistakes and be humble. If you're the one correcting others, be polite and kindly point out the errors. Instead of getting angry, appreciate that someone took their time to correct others mistakes.
