I think that when people call the jedi babynappers they don't take into account that those children might be better off at the jedi temple than with parents who have no idea how to deal with a Force sensitive child. Assuming growing up with parents is wrong - not every parent understands or even loves their child.
One of the things that will put me on the verge of being legitimately angry is the way I’ve seen too many incredibly dismissive-of-adopted-families commentary when it comes to the Jedi. That the idea of biology trumping the people who are actually there in your life, the idea of blood meaning more than the people who taught you everything you know, the idea of adoptive families aren’t real families is kind of infuriating to me.Because, yes, the Jedi are their families. You only have to pick up the Ahsoka book to see it’s clear that she thinks of them as her family when Kaeden talks about her own, for example!And then, even setting aside that the GFFA has shown us that that Force-sensitive children are in greater danger of being literally stolen by bounty hunters looking for a profit, slavers who want to buy them, people who want to literally hunt them down for SPORT, or other nefarious purposes, just for being Force-sensitive. Even setting aside that you’re right, dealing with a Force-sensitive child can be a lot of work and incredibly stressful.Biology is not the be-all-end-all of families. Adoptive families like the Jedi, like Bail and Breha adopting Leia, like Beru and Owen adopting Luke, they’re all just as real and valuable as biological families. And sometimes more, because you’re entirely right that biology doesn’t mean every parent understands or even loves their child.Many of the parents who gave up their children to the Jedi may have loved them just as much as the Jedi did, that’s not what I’m saying. But we know the Jedi loved their kids and understood that connection to the Force in a way only another Force-user could.
