Check out the latest episode of my WE NEVER LEARN radio show on East Village Radio, where I deviate a bit from the spinning of underground garage punk trash (though there's some of that) and do an hour+ chat with the producers of the new Light in the Attic release, Why Don't You Smile Now: Lou Reed at Pickwick Records 1964-65, Jason Stern and Don Fleming.

We dig into the creation of this amazing compilation of songs Lou Reed worked on during his stint at the Pickwick Records' assembly line in Long Island City where Lou first met John Cale and whipped up some proto-Velvet Underground demos between knocking out hits-o-the-day knock offs.

Fleming -- aside from playing in some fine 1990s alt-pop bands (Velvet Monkeys, B.A.L.L., Gumball) -- also recorded the first Action Swingers single, so we dish about that early '90s trash masterpiece a bit too. And the early part of the show includes some other Lou rarities too...
