On The Scene in Surry Hills Sydney
ON THE SCENE
On Sunday August 5, The Dome Bar, corner of Crown and Cleveland Street, Surry Hills, will present "The Music of Nat 'King' Cole". The band includes John Harkins, James Muller, Greg Royal and Andrew Dickeson. Brunch goes from 11.30am to 3.30pm with music from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
Also at The Dome Bar on Thursday nights from 7.30pm there's a regular line-up of top jazz artists performing. On August 9 it''s Anthony "Howler" Howe and his all-star quartet; August 16 has vocalist Virna Sanzone with Matt McMahon piano and Jonathan Zwartz bass; August 23, features vocalist Jeff Duff with John Harkins piano, Brendan Clarke bass and August 30 there's Ben Jones sax/vocals, again with John Harkins and Brendan Clarke. Get out and support these gigs.

The Central Coast Leagues Club’s Jazz League in Gosford, NSW, have Free Jazz every Sunday from 2pm to 5pm. Gigs start on August 5th with Geoff Bull's Olympia Jazz Band, then it's The Dubbo Dropouts Jazz Band on the 12th, then Harry Harman & His Gentlemen of Jazz on the 19th, and The John Mackie/Yuki Kumagai Band on the 26th. Jazz at Club Ashfield regular Friday gigs continue with The Bridge City Jazz Band and special guests each week from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.
The Tweed Valley Jazz Club hold their regular last Friday of the month gig at Condong Bowling Club, McLeod Street, Condong, on August 31. T h e bands will be The Gerry-Hatricks from 6pm to 7pm and George Golla with Colin Jones trumpet/vocals, Peter McLaughlin bass and Paul Janson drums, from 7.30pm to 10pm. Bookings on (02) 6677 7172.
