Ooh boy is he uncomfortable. Last time Dom had seen McKenzie was when Nan had taken him in and patched him up, and then he’d all but fallen off the face without a word. Utter shite was not nearly enough to describe the feeling that washed over Dom when he spotted the other boy - but it was enough to spur him into approaching.

Dom’s seen her around a lot before. She and a few others seem to be constantly working with the other homeless kids, making sure they had food to eat and sometimes even a place to sleep.

She probably had some sort of agenda - most people didn’t just do this sort of thing out of the goodness of their hearts - but he wasn’t complaining.

So. This was it. Another birthday, out on the streets. On his last, Dom had hoped that a year might have changed things, that he might be in a better place by now, but as the months had rolled on, he’d begun to realise he was not so lucky.

He’s sat on a park bench, strumming his guitar with case open at his feet and crutch by his side- though at the moment, the strumming isn’t making it into an actual song. He had been singing Irish folk songs, but clouds are rolling over and he’s deep in thought about whether or not he should give in for the day.

After a moment, a pair of feet in front of him catches his attention, and Dom looks up with a smile.
