Anyone else super annoyed whenever you see an art post of some of the CC kids and it’s like....there’s Max and Nikki and a few others, but absolutely no Neil? Like we’re really doing this in 2019? Hi, fellow Jewish person here...I’m gonna say that while it’s great that you and other people are calling out Dolph apologists, I really hope you at least acknowledge the fact that the crew of camp camp also is at more fault for being the ones who created dolph
Oh, yeah, it’s definitely their fault for thinking he was ever a good idea in the first place and I’ve been saying that since the beginning. Love the show and writers to pieces, but even I as a non-Jewish person know he was absolutely a shitty excuse for a character who never should have existed in the first place.
I think I can say for sure that Dolph isn't going away any time soon unfortunately. So if they're not gonna get rid of him, what are some ways they can make him a better character? I know it would be supremely hard to get rid of the H**ler connection but I'm sure there are ways to at least make him bearable and, dare I say, likeable.
I mean, they did a decent job with his character in The Candy Kingpin by making him just a weird but naive German kid who wants friends. Keep that personality and just change his appearance and boom, instant better character.
I really wish dolph could be different. Cause I think he has potential, especially with his backstory. How do you think the writers could change him to be better? Not sure if they can do it subtly.
They probably couldn’t do it subtle-y. They’d have to focus an entire episode around someone confronting his behavior, explaining why it’s wrong, and then working on writing him without the shitty jokes going forward.
Which is why they’ll never do it.
HOWEVER. I’ll give them credit that they managed to write an entire episode about him without resorting to those shitty H*tler jokes and just made him a weird lonely, German kid. Honestly, he kind of reminded me of a younger Doofenshmirtz with some of his lines in The Candy Kingpin, and it was an overall enjoyable episode! So IT’S NOT IMPOSSIBLE for them to give him a proper character not centered around an offensive joke.
It’s just that they won’t, and I know they won’t, and it frustrates me greatly because it holds the show back.
