‘    ah   …    ahah ♡!    ’    her  heart  was  beating  so  fast.    was  it  the  adrenaline?   or  the  fact  he’d  rushed  in  to  save  her?    she  hadn’t  seen  the  car  and  foolishly  stepped  out  onto  the  road,    but  who  cared!    she  was  overjoyed!    she  was  so  happy  it  hurt  so  much,    like  a  knife  stabbing  into  her  chest!    but  it  was  everything    ―    it  was  the  only  thing  she  could  fixated  on.

that  was,   at  least,    until  he  grabbed  her  shoulders  tightly,    and  as  if  shaking  yuri  out  of  her  diving  thoughts  her  eyes  widened  in  a  moments  horror.    had  she  been  laughing?    

‘    did  I  just   …   um.    a-ah!    I’m  sorry.    that’s  not  like  me   …   was  I  spacing  out?    ’    pull  it  together,    she  tells  herself.    whatever  those  thoughts  and  feelings,    they  were  just    ―    far  too  inappropriate.    had  she  really  done  that  out  loud?    would  he  hate  her?    she  might  have  scared  him  away  but   …    he  was  still  looking  at  her  with  concern.    he  really  was   …

∣  ∣  ∣  ∣  ∣  ∣   (sleep) - for your muse to fall asleep on mine (yuriiiiiiii)

the  classroom  is  mostly  empty,    the  others  having  gone  home  after  club  activities  had  ended  for  the  day.     yuri,    however,    remained,    completed  fixated  on  the  novel  in  hand.    mikio  sat  beside  her,    intent  on  joining  her  despite  yuri’s  unconvincing  attempts  of  persuading  him  otherwise;    truth  be  told,    it  was  an  activity  she  looked  forward  to,    so  the  fact  he’d  made  time  for  her,    even  after  the  club,    made  her  heart  flutter.    as  long  as  he  didn’t  mind,    her  worries  could  ease  and  she  could  allow  herself  to  become  absorbed  in  her  book.    pages  turn  slowly,    waiting  for  him  to  finish  reading,    and  while  she  was  often  patient  she  couldn’t help  but  notice  he  was  struggling  with  this  one  in  particular. 

had  she  been  moving  too  fast?    maybe  it  wasn’t  the  right  book  for  him  after  all.    she’d  gotten  carried  away  again   ..   how  embarrassing.   

movement,    albeit  slow,    as  his  thumb  begins  to  fall  down  the  page,    before  dropping  completely  to  his  side.    

her  eyes  jump  to  life,    mouth  agape  as  she  finally  clicks  on  to  his  heavy  breathing,    and  the  fact  his  body  pushes  against  her  side,    drooping  atop  her  and  causing  her  face  to  brighten  significantly.    the  cold  conditions  of  the  room  vanished.

‘    a-ah!    um  …   mikio   …?    ’

for  a  brief  moment  she  wonders  if  he’d  fallen  asleep  due  to  boredom,    but  those  pessimistic  thoughts  are  submerged  by  his  sleeping  face,    and  the  fact  she  couldn’t  take  her  eyes  off  him.    so  peaceful.    did  he  feel  comfortable  around  her?    that  thought  made  her  happy.    she  should  wake  him  but  she  didn’t  have  it  in  her  to  ruin  this  moment.

gaze   returned  to  her  book  and  she  gently  turns  the  page,    careful  not  to  make  any  sudden  movement  case  he  wakes  up.   try  as  she  might,    she  couldn’t  quite  focus  on  the  novel  as  she  had  previously.    instead  of  being  enveloped  in  it’s  story,    she  was  overcome  by  the  warm  sensation  of  his  body  against  hers,    and  found  that  to  be  far  more  enticing.

     It was like the world was moving in slow motion, a stray craft supply prompting a poor soul to TRIP. As if this was some cliche anime or manga, the male tripped in her direction— Hands of course, instinctually reach forward to hopefully break a fall............ 

        Then, it happened, hands sunk into flesh, her breasts firmly grasped in an effort to stop the male from falling— She was frozen, a bright red stuttering mess, she couldn’t even get a word out, it was until they FINALLY removed their hands that she stood back.

       Ah, a rather pleasant surprise.     Yuri gave a soft, sheepish smile, her cheeks lighting up in their usual fashion.

“Kya!” 

It was a very simple and perhaps expected response. A yip of alarm, a brief stiffening, and then the obvious outcome when a small woman is grabbed and feels she has to defend herself.

yuri  remains  quiet,    watching  each  stroke  of  purple  paint  intently  and,    perhaps,    she  was  staring  too  much.    the  girl  had  a  critical  eye,    but  it  was  dimmed  by  the  warmth  of  his  hand  and  it  took  most  her  concentration  to  remain  composed.    thoughts  of  plenty  rushed  in  and  out  her  mind,    concealed  behind  soft,   pursed  lips   --   was  this  okay  ?    was  he  enjoying  himself  ?    should  she  tell  him  that  he’s  getting  her  fingers  while  trying  to  keep  the  brush  against  each  nail  ?    she  didn’t  mind  that  much,   but  …  it  was  getting  everywhere.

aikawa  catches  on,    as  if  her  thoughts  were  so  loud  she  might  have  been  screaming  the  words  this  entire  time.

‘     well,    it’s   just   …   have  you  ever  painted  someone  else’s  nails  before  ?     ’

a  revealing  pause.     

‘     I  thought  as  much.    though  I  doubt  you’ve  had  much  practise  yourself,    you’re  not  bad  for  a  beginner,    so   …     ’     oh.    oh.    her  faces  immediately  flushes  a  deep  red  and  lips  are  quick  to  shut.    how  rude  of  her.    she  hadn’t  meant  it  like  that,    not  really.    she  really  didn’t  mind.    that  wasn’t  why   …

‘     that  was   …   I'm  sorry.    please,    don’t  stop.    honestly,    I’ve  never  had  my  nails  painted  by  someone  else  before  let  alone  a   …   um.    I  don’t  know  what  I’m  saying  right  now,    that’s   …   unlike  me.     ’     she  needed  a  moment  to  compose  herself ;    it  wasn’t  like  the  girl  to  be  at  a  loss  for  words.    yuri  clears  her  throat,     scarcely  making  a  sound.     had  she  made  things  awkward  between  them  ?
