Failsworth | Major campaign on Dog Fouling planned
Dog Fouling is a big problem in parts of Failsworth. Following concerns from local residents we are launching one of the biggest campaigns we’ve ever done to tackle irresponsible dog owners.
It has taken some time to get the funding in place, design the leaflets and signs and to get the enforcement team ready for a targeted campaign.
From early March around 5,000 leaflets will be delivered to every home in Failsworth East (Higher Failsworth, Woodhouses and Daisy Nook) (see attached).
Over 50 signs will be added to lamp posts and park gates in the area including Westminster Gardens, Higher Memorial Park and Stamford Drive play area as well as playing fields (see attached).
All bins will have a sign attached warning of the fines which can be given or Dog Fouling (see attached).
Enforcement Officers will be at hotspots offering both education and enforcement
For the first time we are piloting new dog waste bag dispensers at Westminster Gardens and Higher Memorial Park where there have been a high number of complaints (see link) http://www.jrbenterprises.com/dog-poop-bag-dispensers/dog-bag-dispensers-detail and we’ll be working with local residents to keep them stocked up.
We’ll be working with local Vets and Dog Groomers to promote the campaign.
I hope you can see we have taken this seriously and I hope the campaign makes things better.
