I felt as if I would die if I didn’t draw these, so here’s some stuff from the au in which Law and Doffy are evil childhood friends
And now a lil spritz of lore, if you will,,
Let’s start with how they met!
Law, like in cannon, escapes Flevance by hiding in a corpse pile, but seeing as the Donquixote family don’t really exist, he’s unable to find anyone to take him in. Trying (but mostly failing) to kill as many people as possible, Law roams around the North Blue, casting himself as a small, angry, spotted patch of bad luck.
At the point where he stumbles across Doffy’s town, he’s weaker than ever and painfully aware that his time is almost up. But he’s not ready to die. He hasn’t caused enough damage, or so he tells himself. Bro is not successful in the murder department.
When he sees the angry mob, the raging fire, and the Donquixotes strung up to the wall screaming, he pauses. The crowd hurls insults and weapons at the family, and Law pieces together that they’re celestial dragons. Law… doesn’t really care about their suffering. Why should he? They’re probably the same nobles that benefitted from the tragedy of his country. They deserve their fates.
He’s perfectly content to watch them die until Doffy, grievously wounded from an arrow in his side and seething with the contempt of a million souls, makes his big ‘I’ll get back at you!’ speech.
Now, Law doesn’t know shit about Doffy, but as he loses consciousness due to the waves of conqueror’s haki and malice, he doesn’t see a spoiled celestial dragon, he sees someone who gets it, someone he might be able to recruit into burning the world down.
Luckily, Law wakes up in time to see Trebol and his goons steal away an unconscious Doffy (passed out due to blood loss). Law follows Trebol, overhearing about the strange power Doffy used to knock everyone out, as well as Trebol’s own plans to use Doffy.
Unwilling to lose his only chance at vengeance to some bastard with snot dropping out of his nose, Law performs his whole ‘I’m gonna pull these pins on my grenades and kill us all’ shtick.
It’s a very effective move against the cowardly Trebol! Law escapes the snot-drooler’s hideout with 1 injured celestial dragon, 1 devil fruit, and 1 silver revolver.
For Doffy’s part, he comes to a few days after the action is over, Law having taken him off the island in a small boat and tending to his wounds. Doffy doesn’t know about Trebol, thus assuming Law to be his sole savior and ally (forming instant trust). He also believes that Rosi and his father were both murdered by the angry mob (they weren’t, but Law told him that they were dead because he figured Rosi and Homing were doomed anyway, and didn’t want Doffy to get distracted looking for his family (remember, Law doesn’t have a lot of time left, every second not spent murdering is a second wasted)).
Doffy and Law don’t get along super well at first. Despite Law seeing himself in Doffy, he finds the younger boy to be difficult, volatile, petty, and overly clingy, while Doffy gets easily annoyed at Law, who he thinks is way too distant and unpleasant— Law should be more like his servants at Mariejois, more appealing, more subservient, but the older boy tries to lead him around and tell him what to do.
Most of the time, they fight and step on each other’s feet— but when it comes to terrorizing the public? Oh, they’re menaces! Run! Fast!!
When Law’s body starts to fail more, Doffy has to take an active role in making sure he doesn’t die (literally holding Law together with string-string biological fuckery) and finding a cure. Doflamingo feels he has to do this because Law is the only real thing he ‘has’. Losing Law to circumstances he couldn’t control wouldn’t just be a blow to his ego, but generally very devastating. He would be completely alone…
Law being taken care of and not given up on by Doffy causes a change in their dynamic, with Law developing respect and genuine attachment to Doffy, which only deepens after Doffy pulls out all stops and performs the impossible; retrieving the op-op fruit for him, saving his life.
And so thus cements Law and Doffy’s haters forever bond.
The scar on Doffy’s side was from when he got hit with an arrow as a kid. The tattoo on Law’s thigh says ‘DO NO HARM’
… the Doffy isn’t too explicit, right?? I just forgor to give him pants in the line art,,, and then just didn’t want to add them after,, I’m sorry dawg :((
