Do you remember that scene?

When Doffy and Rosi are being tortured and Doffy takes an oath that he'll kill them all?

Well, I like to think the reason Doffy took this oath and screamed at this moment is because Rosinante said he wanted to die.

The panel has to be read from right to left, doesn't it? Just before Doffy says he'll kill them all, Rosi screams he wants to die already. Plus, the way he says "I won't forget this" truly feels like he's talking about more than his own body being tortured. The way the panel is placed just between the two lines of Rosi and Doffy that mirror each other doesn't seem to be a coincidence.

"I wanna die already" ---> "I'm not gonna die"

What Rosi said really angered Doffy (the veins on his forehead), he probably felt like his little brother was actually going to die and he couldn't do anything about it. He felt powerless, unable to protect himself and the one he loves, so all he could do at that moment was hold on to the hope that he'd survive and avenge his little brother.

Nobody could hurt Rosi and go on with their life without being punished, so he had to survive to make them pay.

Later we see that Doffy is really protective of his family and actually is willing to kill anyone who might hurt them.

I like to think it's all tied to the trauma he felt in this moment regarding Rosi.

He couldn't have cared less about Homing, and his mother was already dead at this moment.

Just after this, Doffy awakens his Conqueror's Haki. Of course, he feared for his own life, but I like to think Rosi saying he wanted to die actually played a huge role in Doffy unlocking his Haki.

This panel seems to confirm it, veins even started to form when Law threatened Cora. Doffy was really beginning to get angry.

Rosinante is his precious little brother, after all.
