⫘⫘  ♱  ⫘⫘       “  ‘mere  baby.  i  cut  up  some  peaches  for  the  both  of  us  to  share.  ”       kenny  doesn’t  think  himself  a  smart  man,  more  a  lucky  man  —  but  he  is  certainly  smart  enough  to  notice  when  his  baby’s  feeling  down.  @doehartd  ain’t  exactly  the  most  subtle  about  it,  though.  gets  that  from  her  daddy,  he  reckons.

 “  y’need  to  talk  ‘bout  it,  missy?  yer  face  is  all  screwed  up  like  you  ate  somethin’  nasty.  somethin’  got  you  down?  ”

˗ˏˋ ✮ ˎˊ˗      “ missy? missy! it’s not funny — come out! ”     did he do something to upset her? was she just playing and taking it too far? or worse… oh god, god — please don’t let it be “or worse”.

“ @doehartd ! mama’s been callin’ you! where the hell y’at? ” it's serious when buck swears. he never does that!

˗ˏˋ ✮ ˎˊ˗      “ you best not tell mom and dad about this, @doehartd, ”     ‘lil’ salem catches his breath, palms to his knees, hunched over. that shambling creature is long behind them, long past the property line — a place they are told never to go without supervision; probably for just that reason. 

“ i’ll give you all my peaches. for the week. just don’t tell them i took us out there. ”     surely he would be grounded for it, like he was the last time.
