On Tuesday February 4th my best little guy Jack passed away. For the last 6 months or so I had been working very hard with vets to try to diagnose and treat a boney mass in his jaw. The vets were leaning more towards a really bad infection but had not ruled out completely the chance of bone cancer. Whatever it was seemed to be very aggressive and we just couldn't get ahead of it and it seemed it had become systemic, slowly shutting his body down Tues.

So... the growth on Jack's jaw came back. Unfortunately both bacterial labs came back negative so we don't know what it is. Between the labs and it coming back less than a week after surgery...it's highly unlikely to be still be any kind of infection. So I am looking into taking him out of state for a CT scan (my state doesn't have a lab set up to handle anesthesia for "exotics" like rabbits) rather than just waiting and hoping it doesn't get worse. Insurance should cover a chunk of the ct scan and whatever other medical options I decide but I'm still looking into the full travel arrangements I'd need to make.

Waiting for news on my baby Jack's surgery. Dropped him off to the dental expert 2hrs away yesterday. Trying to stay busy. He has an abscess and teeth growing all the wrong way. :( You can kinda see his puffiness on the his right side (left side as you look at him) the white under his chin shouldn't show as much.

1 month: It was a beautiful sunny day this afternoon, Ja Ja but you weren't there in your window spot. I bet it's always sunny and beautiful where ever you are. Your brother and I miss you so much but we're taking good care of each other. Sometimes I think maybe you whisper in his ear. Spring is hard, I miss you getting upset at the sound of the birds returning. I wonder if there are birds where you are now? It kind of makes me laugh to think about. It's still so hard to believe... 💝🌈

I can breathe! Jack is out of surgery, he did great the vet said! She was able to aspirate the abscess and easily drain it and then trimmed his teeth so he thankfully did not have to lose any. Just waiting bacteria cultures to make sure he gets the right antibiotic so the bone infection doesn't get worse. So he'll be home tomorrow!
