Dodecatheon : *squabbling* Ares : I know :D! Lets do Tyranny of The People! Artemis : That sounds like a great idea, I agree! Zeus : *sigh* we're not doing Tyranny of The People, don't you recall what happened to Pompeii? Ares : ...it got destroyed? Zeus : and why did that happen? Ares : Oh! Because.... ummm? Zeus : because you lot voted to blow up the mountain. Ares : Oh yeah! Good times. :3
Eastern Shooting Star
Primula meadia syn. Dodecatheon meadia
This native perennial has a range that spans throughout the central and eastern United States, where it can be found growing in a variety of habitats with acidic to neutral soils. Its nodding flowers resemble a shooting star and are usually white or lilac in color.
This particular plant was growing in a dolomite glade, but I've also found this species growing in moist, open forests over sandstone before.

Midland shooting-star, semi-acidic glacial deposit rocky hillside
Early May promises -
Meadow dwellers adding quite the different look to a semi cultivated garden allowed to run on the wild side.
Pictured are Willowleaf Amsonia with it’s steely blue flower buds poised to unfurl add a nice foil to the almost finished Shooting Stars. Then - there’s that Baptisia - Ivory Towers - a commanding presence with dark, dusky stems and promises of the gorgeous spires of white flowers to come.
