#doddering steps

this is my main set up.

i use a Wacom Cintiq 16, not the pro that has the touch buttons (i think that’s what those are).

primary program is Clip Studio Paint EX currently.

personal thoughts-

i’ve had my wacom cintiq since 2020. it was a gift for my fourteenth birthday. it was a great upgrade from using my phone and my old wacom intuos that i lost the pen to back in 2018. however with the wacom brand itself comes it’s own issues. the drivers would sometimes become difficult to work with and registering firsthand is kind of confusing and sometimes takes a bit. as well as pen pressure occasionally dying and such.

the pro is that my tablet never had an overheating issue, just my laptop, but it didn’t have its own hotkeys so i had to manufacture them onto my laptop. i got used to it tho so i don’t know if that matters.

as for using clip, i love the program, tho it’s definitely fairly advanced and overwhelming to use at first and adjusting to the right pen pressure takes a bit, at least if that matters to you. overall clip studio did not make my skills, it just has a lot of convenient features and neat brushes. and there are definitely artists who use programs for a whole lot cheaper who are wayyy younger than me and more skilled.

this is not to be mean, or to say i don’t want to interact and have nice convos or whatnot; what i mean is i cannot go beyond a relationship like that.

it’s not that i’m younger or trying to be cool, it’s just that i feel bad because i’m also not really a big social media person in general. i share my work, look at reblogs but other than that, i’m back in my normal world.

real life for me is definitely busy, and making time for three blogs is just on my own time and fun. and i get anxious by whatever kind of attention i get, no matter how big or small. i know there’s people behind those notes and to imagine them wanting to be my friend is overwhelming to say the least.

these are just dumb general feelings i’ve had for a while. which sucks because when i was younger i loved making online friends and would socialize all the time. i’d love to be like that again, but rn i’m just not.

Are you taking/accepting art requests?

i may start taking requests, yes, but personally i get overwhelmed easily so i have to feel ready before i can start taking them ^^’.

i don’t have any qualms with it, but it’s just more fun drawing in other art styles. i think it’s why i struggle to draw original work more often, even tho it’s necessary for my portfolio or whatever.

i actually don’t like posting online, but it’s helpful to build my art portfolio since i have aspirations to work in the art/animation industry.

my illustration and animation teacher encourages that i do this anyway, so this is why i’m branching out more online. typically i’d keep my artwork to myself.

understand i draw for myself and that falls under requests and commissions. they rely on my mental capacity.
