I feel slightly insane re: doc bc how is no one pointing out that doc is on thin ice. Canon doc is not tied to one practice specifically but they do, explicitly from Sam Haft himself, take some inspiration from Voodoo and indigenous religion. Especially when so much of the content of the tombsonas is done by fans, they often are just straight up turned into "dark magic scary voodoo" and like. I need more people do be aware of what they're doing. And honestly, for Sam Haft to make some kind of change so this doesn't keep happening. I am kinda worried for the Chosen comic because if they don't get a Black writer on it they're gonna have a hard time.
Tumblr is probably the wrong place to have this discussion but it's the only social media I really use but I'd like to at least start the convo because I do actually trust if we talk about this enough we could actually get tlt to find a way to make doc solidly in the "magic" realm without appropriating real religion
