the seven flowers not really being darkners OR lightners is so interesting to me and also really fun alongside the heavy themes of Gender throughout ch 5. like from a purely literal canon standpoint its so fascinating seeing how the dark worlds that give inanimate things life and alter the forms of living things work with something that is basically both living and inanimate. them existing outside of the binary of lightner and darkner and also being so centered around both breaking rules that have been told to be cosmically enforced to the player and ralsei (i.e. them presenting as humans, flowerys whole deal with ralsei, etc) (religious transphobia being such a strong implied theme with the prophecy very much factors in here) AND the flowers' varied gender presentations work so fucking well with how much the chapter focuses on Gender. its so good
also kind of funny that if we factor ch 4 into the Gender Themes of existing between lightner and darkner i guess that makes gerson Allegorically Trans. #PINKHAIRANDPRONOUNS
