hi im really confused about what is known/going on with the update would u be able to clarify please if not thats okay
sorry for being so late with this omg! i could explain it myself but i’m really bad at that and so here’s a link to someone who lays everything out way better than i ever could
i think we should all go offer roses and love to eruleuliette for their rad translation skills yeah?
everyone who’s feeling disappointed by the death note announcement, please read! (Under the cut bc i write a lot about things relating to dn weehaw)
Okay, so I realize it was a disappointment. I can admit that I was let down as well, as I was excited for possible new content. I acknowledge the fact that it was something which we all hoped would be better. I understand completely.
However, I don’t think it should be something believed to be a “waste” of excitement or something we regret getting hyped about, because of several things. Now, beforehand, I’ll have you know, I am usually the type of person to get angry if I’m disappointed, especially if I had been waiting for so long. But, with this, surprisingly, I am not upset, I feel rather optimistic, in fact.
First off, you won’t believe how many blogs I’ve seen go from something completely unrelated to anime to full on Death Note. It has brought so much attention, this announcement, and has brought back many fans who forgot about it for years. Not to mention, it brought new fans as well, and has rekindled much of that unity in anticipation for something in this fandom for the first time in a long time. Isn’t this something to be happy about? I think it is! I love how much everyone was getting excited and talking to each other about the possibilities. It makes me smile, really.
Also, are we forgetting that a musical is coming out for it next year? Or the fact that Shane Black, the director of Iron Man 3, is still working on making a Death Note movie in America? I realize many of you have opposing opinions on the idea of a remake movie, but let’s face it, who knows when other things new will arise withing Death Note, if ever? I for one, am looking forward to it, no matter how it’s outcome may be. Plus, for the musical and the Escape game happening in Japan and Korea, don’t we have videos and graphics to look forward to for those? We won’t totally miss out on that! And also, the FAQ on the new website suggests new books relating to Death Note will be released in the future…I wonder what that could mean? (And I don't mean just the re-release of the manga in 2 special editions).
Basically, what I’m hoping you’ll all consider are the good things that came out of this, and to not focus solely on the downsides. I love this fandom, and I’m so, so glad I am a part of it. I love the people I’ve met through it, I love the story obviously, the characters, the headcanons, the ambiguity, the everything. I know that down the road, people will come and go from the fandom, and that’s okay. But I know there will always be people who love it, and keep a special place for it in their hearts no matter how old it gets. So you can see how much I would love for everyone to recognize these good things, of course, depending on how you take it.
That’s it! I love you all, and happy tenth anniversary! <3
red eye problems, Light?
