I know this isn't related to dmd in anyway, but would ya look at that Bridgeport has finally opened up an art store. Ive been waiting for this for years. This is great because i hate having to goto Michael's or Joann's every so often because its all the way in Milford. Apparently Art’s&Craftsman supply already has a shop in New haven, hope the one here will be good. ( Great now a closer place to supply my art addiction)

The sequel we've been waiting for, almost 13 years later! The movie Finding Dory took more than 4 years in the making. Andrew Stanton, a trusted Disney Director, wanted to make a follow up movie for Finding Nemo, but had issues with trying to make a side character like Dory an interesting main character. Stanton and his crew worked hard to make a new and fun movie for children and adults, hopefully it pays off!

After seeing both iconic movies, Tron (1982) and The Matrix (1999) in our DMD class, I noticed that the two were quite similar. I noticed that both share a male protagonist that works with computers, Flynn who is a software engineer and Anderson who is a computer programer, both hackers. The fact that they both have a female and male friend, their world revolved around computers, literally, and they are both fighting the “bad guys” who are the computers. (The Machines in The Matrix and The Grid in Tron)
With the release of Tron in 1982 it gained mass popularity, with it being a successful adaption to the popular arcade game of the same name, it did very well. Having a movie that was both live action and animation was new at the time and with a unique style that used computer graphics extensively. Tron had also given the computer program artificial intelligence, the computer and its mind had been created by people, yet had betrayed them in the end. The Although made by humans the intelligence of the computer has surpassed the intelligence of the human that created it. Which is also a reasoning behind the movies plot is self. The movie was released a year before the Game crash era, but ironically the movie Tron made people interested in video games once again. I feel like without this little movie or the impact it made, people would be less interested in videos games. When i watched this movie it made me think if when i was a kid. I was pretty into gaming and would always get excited when they made a movie into a game, note most of them are terrible, but the movie gave me nice memories.
Now on to the Matrix, a movie released in 1999 that was so crazy advanced for its time, well maybe not that advance, but it was still really awesome. The Matrix was a movie that made people want to be hackers and made us question ourselves and surroundings. It made everyone want to own their own personal computer, maybe hoping that Morpheus himself would one day tell them to “wake up”. The Matrix, also like Tron, shows the usage of Artificial intelligence. Man thinks that computers would do good, man makes super smart computer program, program gets intelligent very quickly, computers then rule man kind, we all die, or we are forced to be used as energy for said computers. Right now in the year 2016 we have created Artificial intelligence, we have successfully created something smart out of nothing. Thats a scary thought, knowing that something that isn't even human or animal being that smart. Some people say that robots will never take over and that there intelligence only goes so far, but The Matrix and Tron show other wise. I know both of these movies are not real, but what if they are more intelligent. So intelligent that they fake it, because if humans knew how smart they really were,we would stop making them.
Today Nike unveiled the HyperAdapt 1.0, its first pair of self-lacing shoes.
I remember watching Back to the Future 2 as a kid and seeing these in action, even though they weren't real at the time. Last fall Nike actually made the shoes and gave them to Michael J. Fox (Marty McFly) to try on, and the world went NUTS. Well Nike has recently announced that they will be selling them later on this year. They don't have information on a price yet, but its best to start saving your money now if you want to grab one of these babies.

Although machines are now capable of moments of genius, humans have hardly lost the ability to generate their own. In the future, we'll create them together
AlphaGo beat one of the best Go player, Lee Sedol, in a 5 match game of Go. AlphaGo won the first 3 matches and secured the victory but lost the fourth match on Sunday.
Before the match, AlphaGo was not only fed 30 million moves of expert Go player but it also collected moves from the matches it played itself. This trained the system to examine the potential results of each move. It understands how humans play, but it can also look beyond how humans play to an entirely different level of the game.
Despite this training Lee Sedol made a move that took AlphGo by surprise which helped Lee Sedol win the third match. Although Lee Sedol ultimately lost the four out of the five matches, I think still its amazing how he was able to win one of the matches.
Scientists are excited about the possibility that they seem to have discovered a new species of octopus while surveying the depths of the Pacific Ocean ...
A new breed of octopus has been discovered two days ago in the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii. They nicknamed the cute little thing Casper because of its "ghost like" appearance and the lack of pigment cells it has. It could be years before they actually come up with a real name for it, considering they need to have a specimen to study. Regardless it is still adorable, they even considered the name Ghostopus.
Scientists have turned skin cells into stem cells that can hunt down and destroy the deadly remains inevitably left behind when a glioblastoma is removed.
"The survival rate beyond two years for a patient with a glioblastoma is 30 percent because it is so difficult to treat. Even if a surgeon removes most of the tumor, it’s nearly impossible to get the invasive, cancerous tendrils that spread deeper into the brain and inevitably the remnants grow back. Most patients die within a year and a half of their diagnosis."
It’s so sad to read about how cancer kills, but now we have hope. Scientist have turned skin cells into cancer-hunting stem cells that destroy brain tumors, in attempts to kill brain cancer. It says that developing personalized treatments for glioblastoma with a patients own skin cells improves the survival rate of people.
