A New Zippered Pouch PDF

With all my free time (insert eyeroll and a sigh here), I designed another zippered pouch! This time an abstract design – Playing with Shapes and it’s a little bigger than my Rhino Pouch. This one is 14″ x 12″. It is also fully lined, has a zipper and the wool front is perfect for applique and stitching. Zippered Pouches

I made these lil pouches that were supposed to be boxy pencil pouches...but I was tired and gave up. It was two days before break started and I didn't want to spend toooo much time sewing.

So then, I decided to make a simpler and less time consuming pouch that is still cayoooot <333

I had so much fun picking out some of these fabric.

Okay.. so. Here are the things you need:

-Zipper (choose one that is the same length as the width of the fabric or longer. You can always trim it at the end)

-Fabric

-Interfacing/Inner fabric

^(you can choose whatever you want but try to pick something a little stiff or kind of thick or something that can stand up by itself.)

Directions:

1) Cut your two pieces of fabric the same size. One is the printed fabric and one is the interfacing.

You want the length to be longer than the width since the final product has a length about half of it's original. The width is about the same.

I'm saying about since you need to leave room for some seam allowance.

2) Set your two fabrics on top of each other with the patterned fabric on the top and the interfacing on the bottom. Make sure the patterned fabric's pattern is facing up.

3) Place your zipper facing down on the edge of the width of the two fabrics.

4) Sew with a zipper foot on the right side of the zipper teeth. Or you can hand sew.

5) Turn the zipper back and top stitch. You topstitch so that it will look nicer and so that the fabric will stay in place.

6) After, flip the zipper and make it lay on top of the other side. Now, the patterned part of the two fabrics should be facing the inside.

Sew on the other side of the zipper. Reminder: you should be seeing the back side of the zipper.

7) Flip it around and topstitch on the side where you haven't already to keep it in place.

8) Flip again. Now, unzip about half way.

9) Sew down both sides. You should be seeing the interfacing fabric.

10) Flip through the opening you left and you're finished!

You can trim down the excess for a cleaner look.
