𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐂𝐇𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐋𝐄 .   another  thunderous  fight ,  that  shook  the  whole  of  the  underworld .  she  hated  to  involve  her  kids ,  but  they  were  all  grown  by  now .  in  his  rage ,  hades  could  be  so  hurtful ,  so  senseless  with  his  words .  course  persephone  was  the  same ,  but  hades  always  only  ever  threw  himself  back  into  his  work ,  with  a  foul  expression  on  his  face .  persephone –  persephone  had  nothing .  she  couldn’t  very  well  run  off  to  ma’s  house ,  like  a  foolish  little  girl ,  and  she’d  quit  drinking  awhile  ago .   nothing  to  soothe  the  ache ,  but  the hugs  of  her  own  kids .  “  –  nothing  to  worry  about ,  darling .  mama’s  fine . “ 

𝐎𝐅 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐍 , 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐒 . and  she  didn’t  just  mean  looks .  sure ,  mel  was  a  gentle  child ,  but  she  never  had  a  babe  fall  asleep  so  easily  to  the  sound  of  the  pick  axe  ringing  before .  whilst  her  other  siblings  seemed  to  chafe  at  being  in  the underworld ,  mel  took  to  it  like  a  fish  to  water .  she  kept  the  shades  in  line ,  and  was  a  chip  off  the  old  block .  her  little  melinoe .   “   –   there’s  things  up  above  you  can’t  ever  get  down  here ,  honey . “  

“   –     𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 , 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 .  “  patient  hands  come  to  cover  smaller  ones ,  guide  clumsy  fingers  along  with  the  needle  and  thread .  she  may  have  been  goddess  born ,  but  for  the  first  hundred  years  of  her  life  persephone  lived  as  a  farmhand ,  always  rising  at  the  crack  of  dawn  to  milk  the  blasted  cows ,  or  to  coax  the  flowers  to  bloom  come  spring  time .  it  was  back  breaking  work  –  demeter  certainly  didn’t  live  like  no  goddess . and  she  raised  her  daughter  just  the  same .  they  lived  off  the  land ,  and  made  do  with  what  they  had .  now  she’s  teaching  her  youngest ,  like  her  ma  before  her ,  needlework .  how  to  mend  her  own  dress  –   the  gods  know  they  grow  up  too  fast  .  “   i  still  mend  your  pa’s  socks  ,  just  the  same .  he  always  gets  holes  in  them ,  must  be  his  big   ol’  feet . “
