SCUBA sisters! ā¢ I may choke over how much this is costing us, but when I see Ziva's joyful smile, and witness how she and her sister, Ahava, play together in the water (even as they are in the middle of a 10 minute treading water test), I remind myself it will be worth it in the long run. ā¢ Inspired by @the_mcmermaids whose daughters are taking SCUBA lessons, I looked up a dive school here in the Annapolis area. We found the @spediveschool which offers a weekend class by a highly skilled team of instructors. That is the good news and why we stuck with it. The girls are getting a top notch education. ā¢ The bad news? Major sticker shock! $$$ š¤š¤š¤Æ ā¢ We quickly realized that the $400 class fee ($400 each, of course) was just a drop in the bucket as we had to buy their personal gear (mask, snorkel, booties, weight belt, weights and a rash guard among other things), a $64 PADI DVD, and two $78 text books (required). Plus we had to rent fins for $25 each! $1,800 later and it doesn't even include the certification dives. ā¢ I know diving is not a cheap sport, but OUCH! Gratefully, once they are certified they will be for life. So far they have loved it and have both excelled throughout the course.
