@Regranned from @vegan_african - It is national #vegan week this week and have a wonderful contribution to make in the spirit of the recent #Botswana independence celebrations putting one of Botswana's traditional foods in the spotlight. These are #bambara beans or round nuts, also known as bambara ground nuts. In Botswana they are known as #ditloo and the Shona speakers of #Zimbabwe call them #nyimo. They are highly nutritious: providing a highly calorific source of food with a protein content which is superior to that of other beans. As such they are a common food for nursing mothers and an excellent alernative for vegans. Unfortunately they are not widely available outside Africa as they are currently under cultivated and underutilised. This owes to the long cooking process required however these provide a much needed solution to malnutrition and food security in Africa. I got a hold of some in London and hope to inspire you with a few meal ideas. #Onelove - #regrann
