You need to fuel your body with healthy foods but we can’t forget fuelling our minds also. Mind and body are connected and if we only take care of one of the two our overall health and energy suffer. Both are equally important.
Mental hygiene according to Dr Amen is not just about positive thinking, it’s also about accurate thinking. We need to test our thoughts to make sure they are accurate. If your mind is telling you “I can’t do this” stop and think about if this is accurate or not. Is there evidence to support this? If you don’t question those thoughts your brain will believe it’s true and will act based on that information. Take control by cleaning up your thoughts and correcting the inaccurate ones!
Here are some ideas for you to try:
-Add mental hygiene to your routine
-listen to people who bring you insight, joy and motivation every day
-make yourself a positive mindset playlist and listen to it while making meals
-have a social media platform that you use only for mental fuel..your own personal positive newsfeed
