BORN ON JULY 1, 1997 IN GUNPO, SOUTH KOREA AS KANG SOWON, VICTORY IS THE SECOND YOUNGEST MEMBER OF P NATION’S UPCOMING CO-ED GROUP: DISTRICT4 (D4), THE NEWEST EDITION TO THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED "UNIVERSE-4" PROJECT. VICTORY’S POSITIONS INCLUDE BEING THE MAIN FEMALE RAPPER, MAIN DANCER, AND THE SUB-VOCALIST OF DISTRICT4. VICTORY WAS OFTEN CALLED “MARS” OR “MARLEY” WHILE GROWING UP BECAUSE SHE WAS SO SMALL — LIKE THE PLANET, MARS, AND LEGALLY CHANGED HER NAME TO "MARLEY KANG" AT THE AGE OF 20.

VICTORY BECAME A KPOP TRAINEE BECAUSE SHE WAS INSPIRED BY THE EFFORTS & HARD WORK THAT HER LONG-TERM BOYFRIEND OF 6 YEARS, KIM JUNGWOO (NCT) AND THEIR FELLOW SCHOOL FRIENDS TOOK ON. SHE WAS PREPARING TO STUDY ASTRONOMY OR ANATOMY AFTER GRADUATING GIMPO TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL, WHICH IS WHERE SHE MET JUNGWOO IN 2016. DEEP DOWN, SHE HAD ALWAYS WANTED TO BE AN IDOL BUT WAS RAISED BY A FAMILY WHO CONVINCED HER IT WAS UNREALISTIC. BY THE TIME SHE FINISHED HER SECONDARY EDUCATION, SHE MADE THE DECISION TO PURSUE HER IDOL DREAMS & WAS SCOUTED BY CUBE ENTERTAINMENT IN NOVEMBER 2016.

AFTER PASSING HER AUDITION, SHE STARTED HER TRAINING AND EVENTUALLY BEGAN PREPARING FOR A PROMISING DEBUT WITH (G)I-DLE. AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE, THE CEO OF CUBE PULLED OUT VICTORY FROM THE FINAL LINEUP; THE CEO FELT THAT SHE WOULD BE BETTER WITH LIGHTSUM AS THEIR LEADER. BUT AFTER (G)I-DLE & NCT’S SUCCESSFUL DEBUTS, VICTORY GREW DOUBTFUL AND LEFT THE COMPANY TO FOCUS ON FINANCES BEFORE SHE CONSIDERED CONTINUING HER TRAINEE EFFORTS. ON HER 21ST BIRTHDAY, SHE MET D4’S JIHUN & THEY BOTH SHARED THEIR STORIES, EVENTUALLY PLANNING TO AUDITION FOR P NATION’S UPCOMING PROJECT GROUP TOGETHER.

“it’s getting kind of dark out, are you sure this is a good idea?” kai questioned beside rain whilst jihun and marley led the way to the same bakery where they first met back in 2019. it was now 2021, and the four trainees were finally preparing to debut after marley received news that morning where she learned she was the last (and final) member added to the lineup.

so now, jihun felt it was absolutely necessary to celebrate the completion of their group: marley. it was D4’s tradition as trainees to do so.

“absolutely, this is a big day for marley especially… so we need to go back to where everything started.” jihun insisted from in front of their maknae, turning around to flash him a smile — one that never failed to make his members do the same because of how achingly contagious and genuine his happiness was.

“what flavor are we getting? i say it’s marley’s pick!” rain spoke, which made the boys turn their heads towards the blonde in anticipation.

“easy, red velvet!”

“but noona, we had that the last time you brought me here… and the time before that?” kai asked, raising an eyebrow at her only to hear jihun’s laugh before responding, “it’s her favorite cupcake flavor, kai. you should’ve seen her face the one time i asked if she was getting something different!”

“nothing comes in between me and my favorite dessert.” marley commented excitedly as she pushed open the doors of the bakery, but automatically spun around to glare at jihun when he started snickering, mumbling “except for jungwoo” playfully under his breath. “jihunnie, do you want your face to be stained with red food coloring before our meeting tomorrow?” she glared, lightheartedly instigating her closest friend, who returned the same look on his face.

“mars, you’re quite literally half my height… you’d never be able to reach me, anyways!” he teased back as they entered the shop, knowing that the girl wouldn’t argue any further in public… but he knew that she’d terrorize him back at the dorms later.

the future rookies ordered the red velvet cupcake and sat in a booth to split it amongst each other, marking a celebratory moment for the four of them… but it was only the beginning, the next morning was going to be the first day of discussing their debut plans with their new team and psy.

nobody would be getting any sleep tonight.

BORN ON MAY 23, 2000 AS JUNG SEONGWOO, KAI IS THE YOUNGEST MEMBER OF P NATION’S UPCOMING CO-ED GROUP: DISTRICT4 (D4), THE NEWEST ADDITION TO THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED "UNIVERSE-4" PROJECT. KAI’S POSITIONS INCLUDE BEING D4’S MAIN MALE VOCALIST, THE MAIN DANCER, AND SUB-RAPPER.

KAI BECAME A P NATION TRAINEE IN FALL 2019 AFTER PREVIOUSLY TRAINING UNDER YG ENTERTAINMENT FOR TWO YEARS WITH ORIGINAL PLANS TO DEBUT WITH TREASURE IN 2020. BEFORE LEAVING, HE SPENT A SMALL PORTION OF 2018 TOURING WITH THE CO-ED GROUP SAPPHIRE (@sopphre) AS A BACKUP DANCER. AFTER AUDITIONING TO JOIN THE NEW P NATION CO-ED PROJECT, HE PASSED THE INDIVIDUAL EVALUATIONS MADE BY CORE4 A YEAR LATER WITH AN ALL-KILL MAJORITY VOTE OF 4/4. HOURS AFTER RECEIVING HIS RESULTS, KAI BECAME THE FIRST OFFICIAL MEMBER OF DISTRICT4, AND HIS JOURNEY TOWARDS DEBUTING HAD FINALLY BEGUN.

IN UNIVERSE-4, KAI IS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE DANCE (LED BY SAKURA), MALE & VOCAL UNITS (LED BY EUNWOO) ALONG WITH THE MAKNAE UNIT (LED BY VICTORY).

"so, what do we think about seongwoo?" hyewon started, the tip of her pen subconsciously tapping the freshly turned piece of notebook paper beneath it, awaiting everyone’s replies in a comfortable silence.

"i’m not gonna lie, i reckon he’d be a very nice fit to the dance unit. he catches on to choreography seamlessly, it was like a dream when i taught him the routine he just did." sakura commented quietly to her three members at the table that they all were sharing in one of the practice rooms, discussing each trainee who had made to the end of the first final evaluation for their project. "i think he’s a fantastic dancer, he’s very mesmerizing to watch,” eunwoo began, staring off in thought as sakura sighed, bracing herself to hear yet another trainee not passing their group type’s requirements.

"but…?" "… but his voice, i’m not saying it’s bad, it’s just lacking something that makes him stand out. we need that for each and every member. i see him on the team, but he needs to focus more on his voice now that he’s seemed to have mastered the dance part.”

"eunwoo has a point and i agree with him." AJ nodded, acknowledging eunwoo’s feedback, "at the same time, we need to really crack down and find the first member… we’re running out of time, and i really feel like this kid has what the new unit needs. he’s so young, still, but he came in with the whole package since he started. everyone needs something to improve on, we know what he needs."

"at this point, we’re wasting our time if we don’t all vote for him. it’ll be a never-ending cycle of regret. for what it’s worth, seongwoo has it, so let’s put him down as the first member." hyewon boldly (and nonchalantly) stated, leaning into her chair with an unfazed gaze etched across her face like she had known her final answer much longer ago.

"so we’re doing it? we’re all voting for him?" sakura clarified, glancing at her members in anticipation, but only felt a wave of relief when the others all nodded their heads.

they had just decided on their first new member, the first missing puzzle piece.

BORN ON JULY 1, 1997 IN ESSEX, UNITED KINGDOM AS JEON JIHUN, JIHUN IS THE SECOND OLDEST MEMBER OF P NATION’S UPCOMING CO-ED GROUP: DISTRICT4 (D4), THE NEWEST EDITION TO THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED "UNIVERSE-4" PROJECT. JIHUN’S POSITIONS INCLUDE BEING THE PRODUCTION CAPTAIN, LEAD MALE RAPPER, AND THE MAIN VOCALIST OF DISTRICT4.

AS A FORMER CUBE ENTERTAINMENT ARTIST, JIHUN WAS FIRST INTRODUCED TO THE PUBLIC WHEN HE DEBUTED AS A VOCALIST AND RAPPER FOR THE BOY GROUP PENTAGON IN 2016. HE WAS ONE OF THE FEW WHO PASSED THE FINAL AUDITION (ACCORDING TO THE SURVIVAL SHOW, PENTAGON MAKER) AND WAS ADDED TO THE FINAL LINEUP.

IN 2019, JIHUN WAS REMOVED FROM PENTAGON. HIS STATEMENT REVEALED THAT HE WAS DEPARTING DUE TO MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES — BUT JIHUN DIDN’T LEAVE FOR THAT REASON. THE CEO OF CUBE ENTERTAINMENT CONSTANTLY MISTREATED & PICKED ON JEON, THREATENING HIM INTO LEAVING. THE STATEMENT WAS RELEASED A WEEK AFTER HIS BIRTHDAY, WHICH WAS THE SAME DAY JIHUN WAS REMOVED BUT ALSO WHEN HE MET D4’S VICTORY.

JIHUN AND VICTORY AUDITIONED FOR P NATION’S NEW CO-ED PROJECT TOGETHER A MONTH AFTER MEETING AND ENTERED THE AGENCY TOGETHER AS WELL. DESPITE AUDITIONING FOR D4, PSY ORIGINALLY INTENDED FOR JIHUN TO BECOME A SOLOIST LIKE HIS FELLOW FORMER MEMBER, DAWN, UNTIL HE SAW THE KIND OF MUSIC HE CREATED ALONG WITH CORE4 SEEING HIM AS PART OF THE UNIVERSE-4 VISION.
