hypnospace outlaw thing that doesn’t matter but means a lot to ME: i am absolutely 100% convinced coolpunk (at least in its original form) is a reference to dispepsi by negativland, for the unaware a plunderphonics album remixing pepsi commercials, marketing tapes, news segments, etc, for this similarly striking unsettling anti-consumerism message while also being catchy along the way, my favorite album ever and very good, i swear to god it’s either an intentional reference or a really REALLY specific coincidence that hso independently came up with “song genre remixing soda commercial jingles to be dystopian and anti-consumerist” as part of their in-universe music plotlines but im years late to this game so no one can hear me pounding on the wall and screaming every time someone laments that coolpunk isn’t real.
