1. Visit Downtown Disney

It costs nothing to visit Downtown Disney. There are plenty of fun shops to stroll through and countless opportunities for people-watching. If you visit during the day, be sure to wear a hat—Downtown Disney seems to have its own microclimate and often feels hotter than the rest of Orlando.

Do not miss the snoozing man made of LEGO or the fantastic magnets at Magnetron Magnetz. Be sure to stop by the Art of Disney store, where a daily trivia quiz is held and prizes are awarded to those who answer correctly.

2. Watch the Magic Kingdom Fireworks

Enjoy the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach at the Grand Floridian or Polynesian Resort. You can park at these resorts free of charge for a short time—simply tell the guard that you are visiting the hotel coffee shop.

3. Take a Free Tour of Wilderness Lodge

Check with Guest Services for tour times and details. While there, participate in the Hidden Mickey Hunt—lists are available at Guest Services and add an extra layer of fun to your visit.

4. Watch the Electrical Water Pageant

This nightly event takes place on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, with showtimes varying by day. A series of barges glide across the water, transformed into a magical light display. Though brief, this charming show is one of Walt Disney World’s most overlooked treasures. It can be viewed from the beaches of the Grand Floridian, Polynesian Resort, and Fort Wilderness Marina and Beach.

5. Explore the Nature Trails at Fort Wilderness

Fort Wilderness offers miles of scenic trails winding through pine and cypress woods. Walking the trails is completely free. While bikes are available for rent, enjoying the paths on foot costs nothing.

6. Visit the BoardWalk

The BoardWalk is best experienced in the evening. Take a leisurely stroll and soak in the lively atmosphere, complete with street performers and entertainment that bring the area to life.

7. Visit the Petting Farm at Fort Wilderness

The petting farm is open from 7:00 a.m. until dusk. Free daytime parking is available at Fort Wilderness, making this a relaxing and family-friendly activity.

8. Take the Free Garden Tour at the Yacht & Beach Club Resort

Call Guest Services to find out tour times. This peaceful garden walk offers a quiet escape and showcases beautifully maintained landscapes.

9. Take the Free Lobby Tour at Animal Kingdom Lodge

Explore the stunning lobby and learn more about the resort’s African-inspired design and cultural elements. Check with Guest Services for tour availability.

10. Campfire Sing-Along and Movie Night

Each evening, a campfire is held at Fort Wilderness near the Meadow Trading Post. This activity is free for Walt Disney World Resort guests. Bring your own marshmallows to toast, then enjoy a Disney cartoon or movie shown on a large outdoor screen.

I know I said 10 free things, but I am including one more—because item #10 is only free for guests staying at a Disney World hotel.
