Whump Prompt #1770
Nothing better than that End Of Story aesthetic where the whumpee has their arm in a sling, their jacket hanging over their shoulders, and their face bruised... but they're smiling because it's finally over.
Maybe someone claps them on their bad shoulder, to which they wince but maintain their smile because it's over, it's finally over.
Hyperpop art of Donnie, DO NOT stare at it in the dark unless you wanna get blinded by the neon colours lil broski ✌️
Dislocated joints are actually very fun whump concepts. Think about it:
First you have the initial injury. Be it a dislocated shoulder, hip, knee, all potential locations are dehibilitating, losing the use of that arm or being unable to walk, etc.
Also that every time the whumpee tries to move the dislocated limb they risk making it worse and intensify the pain.
Then... then you have treatment. Forcing a dislocated joint back into place is NOT FUN. Not for the whumpee, not for the caretaker. And if someone inexperienced tries and messes it up... oh boy oh boy we making it worse!
And of course you have all the issues that might come about after the joint is fixed, such as strained muscles, sprained ligaments and tendons, nerve damage, vascular (blood vessel) issues, stiff joints/osteoarthritis... the list goes on.
Anyway thinking about this bc someone I know irl dislocated both their knees on separate occasions, (and it took like four medical professionals to put it back in place). Also I remembered a scene in Mom's Night Out (2014) where Sam dislocates his shoulder and instead of letting a medical professional set it he slammed. His shoulder. Into a wall. And shoved it back in place. In the storming emergency room. In front of the receptionist. I cringe every time.

Found this in my notes app from back when i dislocated my shoulder and had to choose between wearing my sling or using my crutches:
I wish I wasn't ill. I grieve the gymnast, the swimmer, the fighter, the climber that I was before. I grieve the life I could have had.
I wish I wasn't ill. Because if I wasn't ill, if I did not walk with a cane, if I did not have betraying joints, I would not choose between one aid and another just to spare myself the humiliation of both.
I wish I wasn't ill.
Because healthy people don't worry about looking too ill to be with the healthy people or too healthy to be with the ill people.
Because healthy people don't get dismissed because of their age or aids.
They do not get told they are "so young!" In that voice that says "you have so much to live for, why choose illness when there is so much health?" Why choose illness like it is a choice, like I chose to lose myself, chose to rewrite my future, chose to abandon that beautiful big tree or the boxing gloves or yellow belt that I could have had if only I had not had illness forcefully thrust down my throat.
And yet still people look at me like I choose to walk out of the house everyday looking broken.
I wish
I wasn't
Ill.

Padawan Depa Billaba injures herself while sparring and somehow misses the chance to tell her master. Not that Master Windu won't figure her out, sooner or later. He is not as disappointed as she feared.
