PMMI 2012 in Chicago - DPD Guys Review
www.DiscountPackagingDepot.com attended the PMMI show in Chicago this year and feelings are positive about the attendance and enthusiasm of attendees. Concerns over Sandy and postponed/cancelled flights impacting attendance was evident as the show opened. Let us note, our continued thoughts and prayers are with those in the impacted areas.
Our film and machine suppliers were in attendance hosting visitors in their booths. We are encouraged by Highlight Industries commitment to education. They showed new wrap logic, on board film slitting (for customers who do not want to overpay for netting or vented films) and a new impact tester. Additional items shown were the continued commitment to the Synergy .5 http://www.discountpackagingdepot.com/Highlight-Synergy-Pallet-Stretch-Wrap-Machine_p_35.html

All of these machines were prominently displayed in their booth and will continue to be the foundation of the line.
New machines that were shown include a Random Case Packaging and Taping station which will soon be featured on our site. Also the Magnum 2300

was shown with new options to make case packing solutions affordable.
European load requirements (most likely making their way to the United States) were also shown in their booth which will test loads while in transit and during impacts to determine their stability and if they provide the necessary containment. More will be coming on that in the future.
Our film partner Alliance Plastics showed their films and also included a Highlight Stretch Wrapper in their booth running.
Attendance was encouraging for packaging in general as despite the storm, aisles remained clogged with anxious buyers looking to score a fair deal. As one vendor told us, "It was certainly a show met with concern due to in-climate weather, but at opening we were swamped almost immediately and although there were small lapses in crowds in the booth, we worked harder than I can remember to meet the demand of visitors. This should be a record year for us in leads, and those should translate into orders".
That's it for now but should you have any questions regarding the show, please email us at: [email protected]
