Driver With Suspended License Calls Into Zoom Court Hearing About Driving With A Suspended License While Driving – Lansing Michigan reporting

It quickly became apparent to court officials that Corey Harris was driving a car during the hearing. Harris could be seen with his phone in his hand - a violation of Michigan’s hands-free driving laws.

“I’m pulling into my doctor’s office. Give me a second,” Harris said.

“Maybe I don’t understand something, this is for driving while [his] license is suspended?” Judge Cedric Simpson asked.

“That is correct, your honor,” Harris’ attorney replies.

“He doesn’t have a license. He’s suspended, and he was just driving,” Judge Simpson said. “I don’t even know why he would do that. The defendant’s bond is revoked in this matter. The defendant must turn himself into the Washtenaw County Jail by 6 p.m., failure to turn himself in will result in a bench warrant with no bond.”
